The Institute for Hydrodynamics is cooperating with People in Need on a project of the Czech Development Agency: Adaptation of agricultural systems to climate change in the Reqame watershed, Halaba and Silte areas.

This region is one of the most fertile and populated in Ethiopia. However, due to insensitive landscape interventions, fertile soils are gradually eroded during the rainy season. Every year, more and more farmers are forced to abandon their fields, which can no longer support them, and move elsewhere - usually to the already overcrowded cities. The main objective of this project is to prevent or at least significantly reduce the impact of destructive erosion and help set up a long-term sustainable agriculture. One of the objectives in which the Institute for Hydrodynamics is involved with All for Soil is to analyse existing conditions and then design landscape measures to reduce water erosion and increase the soil's retention potential.
