The project is focused on experimental investigations and numerical simulations of vortex flow pattern and solid particles movement in a vertical cylindrical geometry with tangential inflow and continuous withdraw of settled particles from the chamber bottom. The velocity field depends strongly not only on geometry, but as well as on hydraulic and solids loadings, the properties of suspended solids, and the inflow/outflow boundary conditions. The main objective of the proposed project is to describe the detailed flow field pattern in the vortex flow separator (secondary flows, velocity filed, turbulent parameters) and particle movement hydraulic, but as well as treatment capacity of selected vortex flow geometry.
