Study of the influence of certain operationally significant physical and chemical factors affecting the inner structure of aggregates during the formation of separable suspension at the treatment of water, whereby the aggregates formed are characterised by density, size and size- distribution in the treated water is the subject of this project. The aim of the project is the clarification of the influence of mutual ratio of the adhesion and tangential forces affecting the inner structure of aggregates during their formation and the development of mechanistic model of the formation of aggregates, which would describe the course of the aggregation process based on combining of particles formed during the partial development and by using the above to determine physical characteristics of the technologically significant categories from the point of view of separation methods. The evaluation of changes in physical characteristics of the aggregating systém which are dependent on the course of aggregation and based on that the development of a suitable method enabling determination of the technologically significant categories of particles is also a part of the project. The investigations will be carried under conditions of laboratory and pilot plant operations on localities with considerably different water qualities each being balanced over an extended period of time. The pilot plant will be designed for a single and two-stage separation of suspension. A substantial part of the project is also the development of working procedures and the verification of suitably of the developed methods under operational conditions.
