The project is concerned with physical processes that govern soil water regime in headwater catchments of the Czech Republic. The research will be focused on (i) detailed monitoring of climatological, meteorological, and hydrological variables in the selected experimental catchments; (ii) the effective model representation of key processes that determine hydrological responses of soil-plant-atmosphere system to unusual weather events; and (iii) the development and testing of new approaches for model assisted monitoring and data interpretation. The results will contribute to better understanding of soil water regime of the studied forest ecosystems exposed to climatic stress.


The goal of the project

Better understanding of processes governing hydrological responses of soil-plant-atmosphere system to unusual weather events. The knowledge will be used for development of modeling approaches suitable for quantitative predictions of impacts of increased frequency of such events on soil water regime.
